LEGO MASTERS SEASON 5
The Texan GAYFOLs
Justin is a 40 year old AFOL and LEGO ambassador living in Austin, Texas, alongside his husband of 8 years Phillip and their pup, Penny!
Justin grew up performing in musical theatre and loved being on stage. He was able to fly across the stage in Peter Pan and even performed in Footloose at a popular outside stage in Austin.
He is musically inclined playing the saxophone, piano, clarinet, in addition to performing with the Miami Gay Men’s Chorus.
Justin grew up building LEGO but went through a bit of his dark ages around high school. Now he has been solidly building for close to 7 years and loves the newfound LEGO community he has found as an AFOL.
Justin loves a good pop-culture MOC and has recreated things like Barbie’s Dreamhouse and A Little Shop of Horrors.
His current favorite obsession is brick-built food. He has built a bowl of ramen with floating chopsticks, a s’more warrior, escargot, tacos, and a burger with french fries!
Justin is most proud of his Vespa Brick-built poster that first got him noticed in the LEGO community.
He is currently a recognized LEGO Fan Media Ambassador. He occasionally gets sets sent to him for review.
His work has been recognized at conventions like BrickFiesta in 2019 where he won the Pop Culture, Fan Favorite, and Photography category. And in 2023 he won a special recognition award from BrickRodeo for the six months of daily build challenge.
John has a common friend in Justin's husband Phillip; John and connected over Instagram because of their shared love of LEGO, and when they realized they had a personal connection they've been close friends since.
John lives in Dallas, Texas, with his husband of 12 years Rick, and two dogs. He owns his own PR Agency, something he predicted when he was 18 years old.
John has built with LEGO since the second grade, and after a dark ages period in high school and college he re-discovered his love for it. He appreciates it as a means to be creative.
He loves to do spooky builds; some of his favorites are a witch brewing potions while a Girl Scout spies on her, and mad scientist swapping heads with a skeleton.
He recently showcased his work at an event in Dallas, featuring a road scene featuring 15 builds.
