Anagha was born and raised in the small town of Solapur, India, and moved to the US when she was 23 years old with her husband. She now lives in Fremont with her husband, 2 children, and their dog. She grew up in a large household with a mother who loved to cook. However, Anagha did not start cooking herself until she moved to the US, when she had to learn quickly in order to provide for her husband.
She loves cooking traditional Indian food that reminds her of home. She recognizes the legacy of recipes that was handed from generation to generation in her family and she hopes to continue this with her own children.
Anagha grew up around people who were food insecure which allowed her to never take for granted what she had. Her and her family live on a budget so as to never go without. Also, stretching the dollar was how she was raised and Anagha plans on instilling this into her own family.
As a vegetarian, Anagha saves money by swapping out cuts of meat for beans or legumes. She also loves cooking with frozen tater tots, a versatile ingredient that she can turn into a gourmet dish with the right balancing of seasonings.
Anagha made it to the Final 5 contestants on MasterChef India in July 2016.
